58 Newhall, Sheffield
A Sheffield site, once the base of the iconic Sanderson Steel Works, has become the new home of the company which delivers electricity to homes and businesses across the North East, Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire, Northern Powergrid.
The deal, confirmed by the site’s owner, leading property development and investment group, Strawsons Property, sees Northern Powergrid relocate to Newhall 6, an industrial unit of circa 10,000 sq ft, under a long term lease facilitated by property consultancy, Commercial Property Partners (CPP).
The steel portal framed warehouse consists of two 4.5m clearance roller shutter doors, a secured yard and will be subject to an extensive fit out by the new tenant.
Forming part of 58 Newhall – a 12-acre business park located in the heart of Sheffield’s Lower Don Valley which was home to the City’s steelworks industry throughout the 19th and 20th Century, 58 Newhall boasts excellent transport links, with easy access to both the M1 and the city centre.
Commenting on the deal, Adam Jones of Strawsons Property said: “We always knew that it was important to secure the right tenant throughout the renovation and restoration of 58 Newhall and we are delighted to welcome Northern Powergrid to the site.
With just two small heritage buildings remaining, one of which is now under offer, we will look to strengthen the estate’s offering to the region by bringing forward plans to redevelop the final six acres of the estate.
We are extremely proud to have transformed an important but terribly dilapidated site into one of the city’s leading business destinations. We are delighted with the quality of the businesses located on the estate and we look forward to seeing 58 Newhall move from strength to strength.
Other business located on 58 Newhall include SSS Super Alloys, CLE Electrical and MEI brakes.
Ed Norris from CPP said: “58 Newhall is a great site which has undergone a significant transformation under Strawsons Property’s ownership. It’s ideally located close to Sheffield centre, as well as J34 of the M1 and we’re delighted to have been involved in securing another tenant for this location.”
